Stanley Horizens Group Plans for the Long Range

Getting feedback from over 200 persons is a lot of work.   All that input has resulted in a strategic plan that will look out for local needs for a long time.   Are you interested in joining the fun of growing a good thing, call the Mountrail County Extension Office and indicate what you would like to help with.  628-2835. City of StanleyStrategic Planning DocumentVision Statement: In 2012, Stanley will continue to be a friendly community with residents who truly care about one another and are willing to lend a helping hand.  We are a community where all members regardless of their background are encouraged to pursue economic, social, cultural, and recreational opportunities. In 2012, Stanley is a hub of economic activity that is stimulated by diverse sectors including our local small businesses and merchants, agricultural production and processing, and the energy industry, both fossil fuels and renewable energy.  We have a state of the art telecommunications infrastructure which allows a new generation of workers to work and live in Stanley.   The leadership in Stanley in 2012 is strong, knowledgeable, and diverse with people from all generations.  Stanley also utilizes community philanthropy to problem solve from within and its community fund is used as a means to capture its residents charitable and philanthropic intentions. We are a healthy community with many recreational and medical options.  Our housing stock is affordable, improved, and safe for residents of all income levels. Stanley is a place that fosters values that promote a just and caring community.   Goal 1: Create a Master Plan for Development

 Hold Community meetings for input and work with State Agencies and Other Officials to create a plan that benefits the community as a whole including all segments of the population.   City Officials, EDC,Citizens  Dec. 2008  We will have a comprehensive written community plan for expansion and development that is fair and just for all community members.

  Goal 2: Increase Available Daycare Within the Community 

Strategies (a description of how you intend to reach your goal) Who will do it? By when? How  will you know it is done (measures of success)?
 Research Success Facility in Other Communities   Core Group of 5-6  March 2008  We will have a brief written report of examples we visited.
 Hold Community Meetings to bring problem to forefront and present report of tours to community.   Core GroupInvite Community  May 2008  Meeting will be held and Action Group formed to implement solutions.
 Hold second Community Meeting to present Action Group’s suggestions for implementations, to receive feedback   Action GroupInvite Community  July 2008  Meeting will be held and feedback considered.
 Implement Plan of Action   Community-wide Effort  Dec. 2008  There will be an increase in the number and hopefully Quality of Childcare for all community members.  It will hopefully address affordability issues as well.

Goal 3: Housing  

Strategies (a description of how you intend to reach your goal) Who will do it? By when? How will you know it is done (measures of success)?
 Conduct Palm Pilot Study to determine need with help of Center for Technology and Business   Core GroupState Agencies  July 2008  We will have study results in a report.
 Hold Community Meetings to bring problem to forefront and present report of tours to community   Core GroupInvite Community  August  2008  Meeting will be held and Action Group formed to implement solutions.
 Hold second Community Meeting to present Action Group’s suggestions for implementations, to receive feedback   Action GroupInvite Community  October 2008  Meeting will be held and feedback considered.
 Implement Plan of Action   Community-wide Effort  Dec. 2008  Plan will be implemented to address identified housing needs to include affordability and access for all community members.

 Goal 4: Establish a Community Fund for Long Term Community Reinvestment

 Hold Community Meetings to educate the community about the types of funds and opportunities and benefits of creating a fund   Mountrail County JDA & Invite Community  March  2008  Meeting will be held and JDA will take input from community
  Attend educational sessions to help make an informed decision about what type of fund to establish    Action Group & MountrailCounty JDA   Dec. 2008  Community members are able to understand community philanthropy and the tools that will help the community to establish our fund 
 Create Fund   Action Group & MountrailCounty JDA    Dec. 2008  Fund will be created
 Attend educational sessions to establish practices that ensure long term viability of fund   Action Group & MountrailCounty JDA   Dec. 2008  Community members will be able to establish best practices and policies for sustaining the new fund
 Start educational and marketing campaign about new fund to make community aware of the giving options  Community Fund Advisory Group   Ongoing  Community members will be more knowledgeable about the fund they have established and how to make it a success

    Have you set your meeting date for March under Goal 4? How will you invite the public so they will be motivated to come and believe that,…”this is not just another meeting?”
    Great work on these ambitious ideas. I’ll keep reading to see how they evolve.
