Mountrail Community Food Pantry Honors volunteers
Thursday, January 24th, 2008Since August of 1993, Marlene and Andrew Henning have been volunteering their time to keep the Mountrail Community Food Pantry alive and well in Stanley. The food pantry serves as a place were families in need can stock up on supplies to help in their time of need. Items stocked in the food pantry come from donations from people, churches, Food Pride and organizations around the county, as well as the federal government and Lutheran Social Services in Fargo. Prairie Ford has also donated the use of a vehicle sometimes for the Hennings to make the trip to Minot to pick up supplies. KARING KORI
Sunday, January 6th, 2008While in the local beauty salon, I was visiting with Kori and her mom. By accident, her mom told me about the generosity of her daughter. Kori also works at a local convenience store and was given a gift certificate to Food Pride. Kori, being a kind and caring person, gave the food pantry her gift certificate. Kori explained humbly that she realized that others needed the groceries more than her. When asked what she would have bought with that gift certificate, she then replied probably just pop and candy. She laughed and said good night. I was very impressed with the high school student. She is Karing Kori.
Teens are Positive Leaders 2
Thursday, November 15th, 2007![]()
Two teens in Stanley have shown their leadership qualities by attending leadership training and blogging workshops. Randal and Will are students at the Stanley High School. Earlier this year they were the only teens that completed the Leadership Plenty Program. The people who attended the Leadership Plenty were happy that the youth of the community were interested in becoming positive leaders and were willing to learn the skills to become effective leaders as well.
Randal and Will now will be helping Stanley introduce their community to the world. They attended a blogging training in New Town on November 15, 2007. Randal and Will will be updating the blog throughout the year.
